We all need to have the basics
Hi lovely reader,
So this week I wanted to share some info on basic recipes. With basic I mean the ones you really need to be able to do things in the kitchen. Think about a basic recipe for a great sauce, how to make lemon curd, mayonnaise, chutney and the list of basics goes on.
I have a special category on the site with basic recipes because they do make up a large portion of my cooking. I use them all the time. A few of my favorites you can find below and I am working on a new category with sauce recipes. I think sauces are overlooked a lot but they can make or break a dish!

The basics of basics, is this delicious and easy bechamel sauce. Get that under your belt and you can create so many more delicious recipes. You can make a cheese sauce, curry sauce or just about any sauce you feel like making.

Dulce de leche
Ok, definitely not healthy, but it is so, so good. Dulce de leche is made from nothing more than condensed milk (which I hate) and a few hours softly boiling will transform it into luscious caramel

Tahini
Another one of my favorite basics and perfect for using for making hummus (to name just one thing)

French fries
Does this belong in the basic category? Well yes I think it does! Who doesn't love really good crunchy french fries? (Also one of the most popular recipes on the site!)
